What is an immersive coding boot camp?

An immersive boot camp is a unique way of learning. You will live and breathe programming Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 19:00 for 13 weeks - learning, being challenged and developing the skills needed to get your first job in the world of IT and web development.

How is this different from University/College/learning on my own?

The main difference from other traditional methods of learning is that when taking part in a boot camp your one and only focus is gaining the skills you need to start your career.

Nothing you will learn on a boot camp can’t be learned at home, however, what may take you years to crack on your own, you will master in 13 weeks with our help.

** I really want to come on the boot camp but I don’t think I will be able to commit the time for pre-course materials. Are there any other options available?

We would suggest getting in touch with us to see if there is anything we can do to help. In addition, is worth having a look at our Introduction to coding evening course as this can be used instead of under-taking the pre-course materials on your own.

Will I be expected to undertake work outside of the core boot camp hours?

Yes, to get the most out of a boot camp-based course like this, we would recommend that you do 2–3 hours of additional work each evening, plus use your weekends to complete and improve upon projects assigned the previous week to show case on Monday morning. The 13 weeks will fly by and so you need to use this time wisely to soak up as much information as possible, develop your skills and creativity, and apply what you’re learning to real-world client briefs to give yourself the best possible chance of getting your first job.

What does the application process look like?

Why not take a look at our application page, but please get in touch if you have any further questions.

I have never coded before - do I need experience?

That’s really not a problem. After signing up to one of our boot camps, you will receive pre-course material that will give you a grounding in the core fundamentals of web development and programming before your first day.

Anyone can learn to code. Just like anything, it takes guidance, practice and focus - something you’ll have tonnes of on our boot camp. If you fancy checking out what we can offer and exposing yourself to the principles of coding before signing up for our boot camp, why not join our Introduction to coding two-week evening course.

What does a typical day look like?

Depending upon which boot camp you sign up for, days typically begin at 09:30 and end at 18:00 and consist of a series of different sessions, including lectures, practical sessions and labs. For more details on what you can expect, why not take a look at our example daily schedule.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

A laptop is essential. We’d also suggest bringing a notepad and pen to take notes.

Can I really become a programmer in 13 weeks?

Just like anything, becoming a seasoned software engineer or web developer takes years of deliberate practice and development, however, we are confident that you can learn enough to get your first job and become a productive entry level developer once you graduate from our boot camp. The experience will come in time.

What happens if I’m not ready to commit to a course now?

That’s fine. Subscribe to our mailing list and apply when you are ready to commit to one of our boot camps. Why not join our Introduction to coding two-week evening course for a taster of what we have to offer? This may just give you the nudge you need.

** Who are the instructors?

Our lead instructor, Jon, has 8 years experience in corporate IT training with some of the largest companies in the UK. In addition, we are an active member of the Liverpool digital community and Coder Space has world class guest lectures from local organisations and employers. You can read more about the team here.
