How it works

Designed to accelerate your career into a software developer role, our 13-week boot camp will give you the skills and knowledge you need as well as giving you the opportunity to get stuck into building a clone of Instagram or Twitter so you have true hands on technical experience. We will also teach you how to get through your interview and start your future as a developer.

Technologies you will learn

Our 13-week coding boot camp is designed to give you the skills needed to get your first job as a software developer. Our boot camp takes you through a broad curriculum including different skills, technologies and methodologies.

HTML/CSS

The basis of all web sites. You will get a firm understanding of how to build engaging and dynamic websites on both the server and client side using industry standard frameworks such as React, Vue and Jade.

JavaScript

The second most in demand programming language in the UK. We will guide you through using JavaScript and give you a solid foundation in programming allowing you to progress onto other languages such as Ruby or Python.

Git

The most popular way of managing and distributing code. You will have a firm understanding of the best practices for using this and other industry tools as well as AWS, Heroku and Microsoft Azure Platforms.

PHP

Still one of the most requested programming languages. You will be able to confidently use PHP to develop modern websites and web using the Lavarel Framework and the industry standard, Wordpress.

Test-driven development

A key part of modern software development. From day one, you will learn how to build and test robust code and applications.


NodeJS

The second of the back-end technologies you will learn in your 13 weeks. NodeJS is JavaScript on the backend, favourite of Netflix, Paypal and Uber. You will also get hands on experience with the popular NodeJS libraries and frameworks.

Course timeline

Phase 0: Pre-boot camp

Minimum two weeks

The first step on your way to your new career. Before the boot camp starts, we will provide you with pre-reading material that will give you an introduction to some of the concepts and technologies that we will cover during the boot camp so you can hit the ground running, making the most of your 13 weeks with us.

Phase 1: Front end & Test-Driven Development

Weeks 1 - 3

From discovering HTML and CSS to building your own static website, this phase provides you with the foundational knowledge that we will build upon over the coming weeks. 

Phase 2: JavaScript

Weeks 4 - 6

Building on the core knowledge we have established, you will get hands-on experience with both functional and object-orientated programming, JavaScript frameworks, as well as a look at industry-standard tools and best practices. 

Phase 3:  NodeJS & Databases

Weeks 7 - 9

During this phase we will start looking at the back-end with NodeJS, SQL and NoSQL databases. We will look at how to build, deploy and scale complex web applications and build on everything you have learned so far. 

Phase 4: PHP 

Week 10 - 11

Used by the likes of Facebook and Wikipedia, you will be introduced to a completely new programming language, PHP and the Lavarel framework. Here you will get the opportunity to prove that you can quickly get to grips with a new programming language and pick up the skills you need to get the job done.

Phase 5: Getting job ready 

Weeks 12 - 13

The final phase of your 13-week coding boot camp is geared towards getting you ready for your new job role once the course ends. In this phase, you will have opportunity to bring your skills and knowledge together to build a project over two weeks, as well as getting you interview ready.

Phase 6: Postgrad support

Week 13 onwards

Once you have finished the boot camp you will still have access to our facilities and support for as long as you need it.

Drive and Dedication

During the 13-week boot camp, you will need to be dedicated and ready to take on challenges day after day. We will give you the tools you need, but it’s up to you to take them and hone your skills. Not only will you be you be expected to participate in lectures and labs during the day, we would also suggest that you undertake between 2 and 3 hours’ self-study each evening. You only get out what you put in after all.

Time efficient

We get that working out what you need to learn and mastering it can be hard and time consuming. That's why we have designed this boot camp, with the help of industry experts, to give you the skills you need, with help and support along the way.

If you are unhappy with your current employment situation and are looking for a change of career, the Coder Space boot camp will give you the skills required to land your first web developer job.

Graduates, undergraduates and school leavers

The Coder Space boot camp is an alternative route into a great job. It could also be a invaluable add-on to degree qualification. Looking to start your own technology company? This boot camp will help you acquire the skills you need to build a minimum viable product or provide paid for web development consultancy services to your customers.

Daily Schedule

Our course has been designed to introduce new concepts daily and give you the maximum amount of time possible to master them. Here's what a typical day looks like on a Coder Space boot camp (the exact timings change depending on activities).

09:00 - 09:30 // Breakfast

Start the morning with a coffee and a chat with friends. There might even be time for a quick game of table football.

09:30 - 11:30 // Lectures

Take your seat for the morning's lecture. Instructors will introduce you to new concepts and build on the skills you have already mastered.

11:30 - 13:00 // Hands-on

Your chance to try out what you've just learnt and get your hands dirty. Tutors will be there to go over the material again and help any time you hit a road block.

13:00 - 14:00 // Lunch

Eat at one of the many cafes and restaurants on our campus' doorstep, or you may want to get a head start on the afternoon labs (optional). 

14:00 - 16:00 // Afternoon labs

After lunch, we'll get straight back to it with a two-hour lab session where you and a friend will need to overcome challenges and solve problems. After all, practice makes perfect! 

16:00 - 18:00 // Review

Instructors will recap the day's concepts and go over the afternoon's labs to make sure everyone is ready to move forward. 

18:00 - 19:00 // Expand your horizons

Time for meetups, talks and networking, or even hacking on a project.
